FAQs

Is the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education a registered charity?

Yes!  The Foundation is a registered charity.  CRA #104001573RR0001.

Eligible donations receive a charitable tax receipt.

Is the Foundation part of PEO?

No!  While the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education was founded by volunteers of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), it is a separate legal entity.  The Foundation was incorporated in 1959.

The Foundation remains deeply grateful for the support that PEO has provided over the years and continues to provide.

I made a donation to the Foundation and I didn’t get my tax receipt. How do I get it?

First off, thank you for your donation! Please contact Saskia to get a copy of your tax receipt.  Please provide her with your full name and mailing address, how you made your donation (through the Foundation website, PEO or OSPE) and the approximate date you made your donation.

I made a donation when I renewed my licence with PEO.  When will I receive my tax receipt?

First off, thank you for your donation! We are typically a month behind in the donation cycle.  For example, donations received by PEO in January are remitted to the Foundation in February.

If it has been more than a month, please contact Saskia to check on the status of your tax receipt.

I made a donation when I renewed my membership with OSPE.  When will I receive my tax receipt?

First off, thank you for your donation! The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) remits to the Foundation quarterly.  For example, if you donated in Q1 (January, February or March), you should receive your tax receipt in April.

If it has been more than a month since quarter end, please contact Saskia to check on the status of your tax receipt.

How can I be considered for a Foundation scholarship?

Each of our Partner Schools has its own process for selecting its Foundation scholarship recipients. (The Foundation provides criteria and eligibility requirements to our Partner Schools, but they each follow their own awards/scholarship processes.)

How many scholarships does the Foundation give annually?

Currently, the Foundation provides 106 scholarships each year.  Partner Schools each receive two entrance scholarships and between two and eight undergraduate scholarships depending on the size of the engineering department.
