Ways to Give

The expression, “it takes a village to raise a child” is applicable when talking about the Foundation. Since 1959, the Foundation has been relying on the “engineering village” to provide financial support to Ontario’s engineering undergraduates.

To our current and past donors and volunteers – thank you for your commitment and support.

Annually, the Foundation provides $159,000 in scholarships to 106 students at Ontario’s 16 accredited engineering schools.

Ways to Give

Make a Donation

Whether you are an individual or an organization, you can make a one-time donation or you can set up a recurring donation. You can also specify if your donation is in honour of someone or in memory of someone close to you.

How to Give

Donating through the Foundation website is safe and secure.

Want to save the Foundation credit card processing fees? Complete our donation form and mail a cheque or ask about making an EFT.

Renewing your OSPE membership? Add a donation when you’re checking out.

Celebrating a milestone birthday or anniversary? Ask your family, friends and colleagues to make a donation in your honour in lieu of a gift.

Looking for a gift for a hard to buy for person? Donate to the Foundation in their name.

Does your workplace have a corporate United Way program? Speak to you HR department to direct your donation to the Foundation.

Tell your loved ones to ask for donations to the Foundation in your memory in lieu of flowers upon your passing.

Legacy Giving

By including the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education in your will, you can create a legacy that supports future generations of engineers. A planned gift allows you to contribute to the advancement of the engineering profession while also ensuring your estate provides for your loved ones. Whether large or small, your bequest will help fund scholarships for students who will go on to shape the future of our communities and industries.

As giving a planned gift is an important decision, you should speak with your legal and accounting advisors to ensure your specific wishes are carried out and your estate enjoys the tax benefits of your generosity.

Donating Securities

Donating securities is a convenient way to give that offers favourable tax benefits for donors. As returns on investments increase over time, those capital gains are taxable, except if you choose to donate such investments directly to a registered charity.

By donating securities directly to the Foundation, you avoid capital gains tax and are eligible for a tax receipt for the fair market value of your gift. Not only does this method of giving offer smart financial solutions, but it can also represent a meaningful investment in helping the Foundation achieve our mission of providing financial assistance to engineering students in Ontario.

Organizational/Corporate Giving

Organizational/Corporate giving programs are often part of an organization’s corporate social responsibility efforts. Many organizations – private, public and not-for-profit – have supported the Foundation over the years, and we’d love for you to join us. There are different ways for your organization to get involved with the Foundation:

Name the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education as your organization’s charity of choice and offer to match donations by employees.

Make an annual organizational donation to the Foundation and support Ontario’s engineering undergraduate students.

Set up a matching gifts program. Match your employees’ donations based on a defined amount (i.e. match the donation or 2:1 match).

Holding a conference? Why not make a donation in lieu of speaker gifts to the Foundation.

Holding a charity event like a golf tournament? Make the Foundation the beneficiary of your event like the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers has done since 2022!
