Our History

The Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education was established as a charitable organization in May 1959. By January 1960 initial member donations had totaled $3,500 allowing the Foundation to provide its first entrance scholarships of $500 to students at Queen’s University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario.

In January 1961, our scholarship program added undergraduate scholarships valued at $250 while still providing $500 entrance scholarships.

Today, the Foundation now supports all 16 accredited engineering schools in the province and annually provides $159,000 in scholarships to 106 students (scholarships are valued at $1,500 and each school receives two entrance scholarships and between two and eight undergraduate scholarships depending on faculty size).
